This page describes long-term care insurance, placed through Wolfepack Strategic Partners, an independent brokerage. Helps pay for extended personal care at home or in a care facility.

What long-term care insurance is

Long-term care insurance helps pay for extended personal care: help with bathing, dressing, eating, or supervision for cognitive impairment, whether at home, in assisted living, or in a nursing facility.

Standard health insurance generally does not cover extended custodial care of this kind.

Who it is generally for

People planning for the cost of extended care later in life who want help paying for that care.

What it generally addresses

  • Care at home from a licensed provider
  • Assisted living and memory care
  • Nursing facility care
  • Care coordination services, where the policy includes them

Scope notes

  • Benefits begin after the policy's elimination period and once the insured meets the policy's benefit triggers, commonly needing help with a set number of daily living activities.
  • Traditional long-term care policies and hybrid life or annuity policies with long-term care riders are structured differently. We explain the differences before any application.
  • Premiums are set by the carrier based on age, health, and the benefits selected.
